Things to Keep In Mind… #1
Been absent for awhile, but decided to write a few posts on the topic of “MAKING ASKS.” It’s more for me then for anyone who might read this, so here it goes!
Every Ask I Make is an ASK of THE PERSON and an ASK of MYSELF.
This means:
- I am committing myself to structuring my day, my week, and month to develop this person
- I have already developed a structured plan to help this person grow into who I believe they can be
- I have done the necessary research into their personality and character and found that they will be a good fit with me and the existing team
- I am prepared to give them encouragement both in the form of a kick in the butt or a slap on the back.
If I haven’t thought through all of this, I am merely ASKING someone to get a task done. Those kinds of ASKS are short term and will rarely profit the LONG TERM HEALTH of our Church.
If I HAVE thought through these and created a simple plan, then I am setting our church up for the possibility of LONG TERM HEALTH and Success. 1 & 2 Timothy are letters from Paul that show his LONG TERM COMMITMENT to the process of training Timothy.
